CENTENNIAL HOMECOMING WEEKEND

CENTENNIAL HOMECOMING

DON'T MISS IT!

July 25 - 27

The centennial homecoming weekend, July 25-27, is shaping up to be a not-to-be-missed occasion for present and past members of our faith community.  You'll be hearing and reading more about each of the events but, for now, clip and post this rundown on your refrigerator:

Friday, July 25:  Community bean feed and talent show, 6-8:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.  In the 1930s and 40s, the bean feed was a popular way to close the YMCA program year and gather folks from throughout the community before summer.  Our menu will feature beans and all the trimmings, and our program will feature the cream of Fauntleroy talent.  By donation; sign up on the bulletin board outside Fellowship Hall so that we'll have enough beans!

Also Friday:  Vespers on the beach, 8:30-9:30 p.m. at the Brace Point S.W. streetend in Fauntleroy Cove.  Hosted by Carol and Thor Karlstrom, we'll sing and pray (as the founders of our church did) and enjoy 'smores (a later invention).  Walk down after the bean feed or take our shuttle service; plan to bring a flashlight, lantern, or other light source.

Saturday, July 26:  Fauntleroy walking tour, 10-11:30 a.m.  Led by Southwest Seattle Historical Society member Ron Richardson, this stroll past neighborhood points of interest will begin and end at the south parking lot of Lincoln Park; free.

Also Saturday:  Open house, 1-4 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.  Reconnect with church folks while learning about current ministries, viewing old movies of Camp Colman, and having a look at the building (present and future).

Also Saturday:  Anniversary dinner, 6-8 p.m. at the Hall at Fauntleroy.  Watch for your invitation to this gala affair featuring the premiere of the Fauntleroy documentary; by reservation only.

Sunday, July 27:  Worship service and reception, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.  We'll honor former church leaders, have a 100-year roll call, open and close time capsules, and recharge our batteries for many more years of mission.
