Weekly Announcements Dec 14, 2025

CHILDCARE is available for infants thru 3 year olds. Our nursery is on the 4th floor. One of our greeters or ushers would be very happy to direct you if this is your first time at the church.

SUNDAY SCHOOL TODAY: Sunday School for pre-K through 8th grade takes place on the fourth floor of the building after the children’s moment in worship. Carol Gilderoy is our Lead Sunday School teacher on the church staff, with volunteers joining her each Sunday to create a meaningful experience for our children. Please come to the fourth floor Sunday school wing to pick up your child after worship.

PASS THE PEW PADS PLEASE: Please pass the pew pad to those sitting next to you, adding your names to let us know you are worshiping with us today.

CONFIRMATION CLASS INFORMATION SESSION AFTER WORSHIP

If you have a child in grade six or older who is interested in taking a journey of faith this winter and spring with Pastor Leah, Pastor Karyn, a caring group of mentors and their peers, stay after worship and join us for an information session in the lounge on what the class looks like (and doesn’t look like), why we still engage the practice of “confirmation” and all the ways participating can help your child explore who they are, who they believe God to be and how it could matter to them. Together, we’ll live the questions, learning from one another while holding true to the message we share, “Whoever you are, wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.” Classes begin during worship on January 18. Come and learn more!

THE MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR BONNIE BEERMAN begins today at 2:30 and will be followed by a reception in Fellowship Hall. We hope you can join us to honor the life of Bonnie and share the gift of presence with her family and church friends.

SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT OUR CHRISTMAS CONCERTS! Tell your friends, family and neighbors to make sure they don’t miss out on an evening of spectacular music presented by our Music Director, Zachary Fitzgerald, Accompanist, Mayumi Tayake, and made possible by SO MUCH TALENT among the church members and friends of this congregation! There are two opportunities to enjoy the music: 7pm on Saturday, December 20th (preceded by a 6pm reception among the beautiful trees in Fellowship Hall) and 4pm on Sunday, December 21st (followed by a reception among the beautiful trees in Fellowship Hall).

STAR LIGHT, STAR BRIGHT, THE FIRST STAR (WORD) I SEE... on Sunday, January 11, at our Epiphany “Star Word” worship service will be mine to journey with for 2026. Don’t know what a “star word” service is? Follow the star beside the magi to Bethlehem (and this service) to find out more and experience why so many Fauntleroy Church members love it! Already know what a “star word” is? We are looking for folk who have journeyed well with their words of 2025 who might be willing to share a 3-4 minute reflection at this service. If that’s you, please contact Pastor Karyn. Thanks!

GIVING TREE: Today is the last day to support school families, detained immigrants, and Welcome Table kids through our annual giving tree. Take a tag from the tree in the narthex to remind you to donate online or put a check or cash marked “giving tree” when the plate comes around today. Thanks to all who have already donated!

A CHRISTMAS GIFT: Everyone deserves to be home for Christmas with their loved ones. That will not happen for 60,000 people this year. They are immigrants, most with no criminal convictions, who are locked in detention centers around the country. The Immigration Task Force is donating $500 to the Fair Fight Bond Fund, which helps free jailed immigrants. The recent action was taken to high light and encourage contributions to the Giving Tree, where a portion of all proceeds will go to the fund.

PRAYER CHAIN REQUESTS: If you would like to have someone added to the prayer chain, you can fill out the Prayer Request card found in the pews on Sunday mornings, or email  FauntleroyPrayerChain@gmail.com or go to the church website, www.fauntleroyucc.org, and select “Prayer Requests” from the menu in the top right corner. Fill in the simple form with your prayer. Your information is always kept confidential unless you request otherwise.

12/24 CHRISTMAS EVE – THREE EVENING SERVICES:

·       4PM – A shorter, engaging service offered for all, but especially with the energy and joy of families and young children in mind. We'll end singing “Happy Birthday” to the Christ Child. Then, all are welcome to enjoy birthday cake at the reception that follows in Fellowship Hall. Offered in-person only.

·       7PM – A worship with the traditional Christmas readings, carols and and choir singing. Worship ends with beautiful candlelight and “Silent Night.” In-person and live streamed.

·       11PM – A more contemplative worship with communion. We’ll end with candlelight and singing “Silent Night.” Offered in-person only.

FESTIVAL of TREES – Visions of Peace, Peanut Butter & Spiders! It’s time to explore the winter wonderland in Fellowship Hall, where you’ll be greeted by visions of peace, peanut butter and yes – spiders. This year’s trees are wonderfully diverse, artfully crafted and each has a story to tell. To do the best job possible for our neighbors in need, please consider the following: expiration dates in 2026 or beyond, healthier options, foods for special diets, and culturally relevant options. We also hope you’ll consider bringing family and friends to visit and vote. The forest in Fellowship Hall is open for viewing Monday – Thursday between 8AM-Noon.

HONORING OUR LOVED ONES IN ADVENT: Every year, we decorate our worship space and church with beautiful, Christmas cuetlaxolchitl flowers and other nice touches. If you would like to make an extra gift toward visual beauty that will welcome and inspire, submit your extra donation via check or online, indicating “decorations” so we know where to direct your donation. If you would like your donation to be in honor or memory of someone, please contact Kyle Lorenzen, Office Assistant, at kyle@fauntleroyucc.org or 206-932-5600 with the name of the donor (your name and anyone else’s names) and the name of the person being honored or remembered—as you wish for it to appear in the Christmas Eve bulletins—by 12/16.

SAVE THE DATE – JANUARY 31 TINY HOME BUILD: Mark your calendars for Saturday, January 31 from 9AM until 2 PM for our next Tiny Home Build at Sound Foundations NW, aka The Hope Factory, in SODO. Sign-ups will start in early January. Note that we were able to get a coveted Saturday build day, (prior Fauntleroy build days have been on weekdays), so we can have folks who aren't usually available during the week join. Questions? Contact Fred O'Leary, fredoleary@gmail.com.
