CHILDCARE is available for infants thru 3 year olds. Our nursery is on the 4th floor. One of our greeters or ushers would be very happy to direct you if this is your first time at the church.
SUNDAY SCHOOL: Thanks to our Lead Teacher, Carol, and to our volunteers Patti and Paul, for encouraging and wondering with our children.
PASS THE PEW PADS PLEASE: Please pass the pew pad to those sitting next to you, adding your names to let us know you are worshiping with us today. The pads are hanging from hooks on the pew backs, near the center aisle. In addition to names (which we hope all will write down), please add your contact information if you are new to us. If someone sits down in your pew after the pads have been passed, please pass them down again.
RAINBOW BELLS REHEARSAL: Today children and youth up to grade 12 are invited to stay after worship to practice playing rainbow bells for a performance on October 18. No experience needed! Practice will be held in the chapel on the 4th floor.
COME LEARN ABOUT THE DOCTRINE OF DISCOVERY TODAY: Pastor Leah has invited the congregation to read The Land is Not Empty: Following Jesus in Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery by Sarah Augustine. Sarah Augustine will be here to lead a workshop after worship on Sunday, November 1st. BUT FIRST…If you are new to learning about the Doctrine of Discovery and its impact on our country and world, you’re invited to join Pastor Leah after worship today in Fellowship Hall. We’ll watch a video that provides a helpful introduction and engage some conversation. You do not have to have touched the book to engage this time together.
CAKE DONATIONS NEEDED: On Saturday, Oct 17, the youth will gather to decorate around 50 cakes to be given away as prizes at the Fall Festival. Each year we rely on Fauntleroy members to donate undecorated cakes (and decorating supplies!) for this event. Please consider committing to cake donations by signing up in the Narthex or emailing Tyler Torres at tyler@fauntleroyucc.org. Cakes can be dropped off at the church kitchen on Oct 13 – 15 from 9am to 1pm, Thursday Oct 15 during choir practice, Friday Oct 16 from 4 – 7pm, or Saturday starting at 9am.
VOLUNTEERS DESPERATELY NEEDED FOR FAUNTLEROY FALL FESTIVAL: The Fauntleroy Fall Festival is A WEEK away (Sunday, October 18), and the festival needs you! Volunteers keep the festival free to the community. You are needed!
CHILDREN’S SABBATH: Sunday, October 18th is our Children’s Sabbath Worship! The worship will include special music and readings by our children and youth. It’s always a joyful service! To have your child participate, please email Tyler Torres at tyler@fauntleroyucc.org.
WELCOME TABLE – OCTOBER 17: The need for good nutritious food continues to grow, and so does our response. Once a month, the Fauntleroy Church community helps provide a hot meal and essential supplies for our hungry and food-insecure neighbors in White Center. You’re invited to join us on Saturday October 17, 2026, by preparing part of the meal and/or volunteering on site. No experience is required - make a meal, serve a meal, drop off needed personal items, be a friendly presence at a giveaway table - these are some of the ways you can support some of our struggling neighbors. It is meaningful, hands-on and sadly, all too necessary work especially given the times in which we live. For details and to sign up click the link in tomorrow’s newsletter.
WIN 3RD CHILI COOKOFF- OCTOBER 16, 6PM, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish: Get your chili pots, aprons, and secret recipes ready! Congregations "compete" against one another to earn the Golden Crockpot for the best chili in West Seattle! WIN is an all-volunteer network that relies on YOU to bring your best food and participation feeding the greater community through their Welcome Table events.
What we need: your famous chili, bake some cornbread, bring veggies, whip up a dessert, volunteer to help, or simply show up hungry and ready to vote. Look for a link in tomorrow’s newsletter to sign up for these things.
Attend the event: $30 adults and kids 4-12 $10.

JOIN US FOR A TINY HOME BUILD DAY: Part of Fauntleroy’s homelessness response is helping to build the Tiny Homes which are deployed in villages for folks transitioning from tent communities into more stable housing. The villages are set up and operated by LIHI, a local non-profit organization, and the homes are built by Sound Foundations at their factory in SODO. Our next build day is Wednesday, Oct 21 from 9 AM – 3 PM. We aim to have a team of 10-12 people who can look forward to a rewarding day of home-building and an opportunity to learn more about the Tiny Home model to end homelessness. SAVE THE DATE! MARK YOUR CALENDARS! The Caring Ministry is sponsoring a presentation on stress and anxiety. The event will be called “Finding Calm in the Chaos”. This event will take place on Sunday, October 25th at 11:30am after worship. All are welcome.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE FAUNTLEROY ART SHOW: Our Fauntleroy Art Show is coming up November 13–15 (Friday–Sunday), and we’d love your help making it a welcoming and successful weekend! We’re looking for volunteers to be door greeters and artist helpers throughout the show. No special experience is needed—just a friendly smile and a willingness to lend a hand. It’s also a great way to meet our artists and enjoy the show! The sign-up sheet is available at the Get Involved Table in the Narthex, or you can contact Ana Del Claro at acdelclaro@gmail.com to find out how you can help. Even an hour or two makes a big difference!
PRAYER CHAIN REQUESTS: If you would like to have someone added to the prayer chain, you can fill out the Prayer Request card found in the pews on Sunday mornings, or email FauntleroyPrayerChain@gmail.com or go to the church website, www.fauntleroyucc.org, and select “Prayer Requests” from the menu in the top right corner. Fill in the simple form with your prayer. Your information is always kept confidential unless you request otherwise.
FESTIVAL OF TREES SIGN-UPS ARE OPEN! Help deck Fellowship Hall for the holiday season! Groups, families and individuals are invited to release their creative energy, have some joy-filled fun, and inspire others to give. You provide the artificial tree or trees, decorations and amazing ideas; we’ll all provide shelf-stable food items for the West Seattle and White Center food banks as we “vote” for our favorites. Event information is also available in the gathering area.
