Fauntleroy Church Worship Technician
Job Summary
The Worship Technician will have responsibility for supporting sound, video and livestreaming technologies that make our worship services accessible to all.
Reports To
The Worship Technician reports to and is supervised by the Senior Minister.
Works Closely With
The Worship Technician works closely in their job first and foremost with the volunteer who has established our operational systems for livestreaming, maintains these systems as issues occur and trains all volunteers and staff working with video and sound. The Worship Technician also interacts with volunteers on Sunday mornings, as well as the Senior and Associate Pastor, the Music Director and the Office Assistant, who does pre-production on which this position relies.
Digital Ministry Areas of Responsibility:
Produce the live weekly worship service’s livestream to YouTube as needed, including conducting sound checks in cooperation with the sanctuary sound technician, livestream sound mixing, remote PTZ camera operation, managing camera changes, shifts between live and recorded production elements, projection of visuals in the Sanctuary, and any adjustments needed on audio or visual. When not needed for primary Sunday video production, serve as either a second person in the audio-visual booth or a sanctuary sound technician for the worship service, working in close cooperation with the volunteer operating video as well as other staff members.
Organize and maintain digital files related to worship
Maintain an organized audio-visual room including careful consistency of settings
Do advance and follow-up work related to worship on the church’s YouTube channel
Share observations and ideas that might enrich the online worship experience and/or further operational efficiency
Desired Attributes, Skills, and Experience:
Some background with audio and visual technology
Good familiarity with Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint and Word
Familiarity with OBS Studio and operating cameras or willingness to learn
Ability to multitask and troubleshoot logically under pressure
Ability to receive a multitude of opinions with grace while following protocol
Flexible and adaptable with a positive attitude
Do not need to be a UCC member, but must strongly align with our values as a progressive and open and affirming church
Willingness to pay attention throughout the worship service in order to best connect to the moment and assist the online worshiper’s experience (multitasking on one’s phone will not be allowed)
An appreciation for the content and power of a worship service that might be different from one’s prior experiences

As required by law, background checks will be conducted on applicants selected for hire. In accordance with our safe church policy, applicants must be 18+ years of age.
Please note: Fauntleroy Church is exempt from contributing to federal and state unemployment insurance programs. Church employees are ineligible for unemployment benefits related to their employment with the church at the ending of such employment.
